Israel plans to build 200 settlement outposts in Sheikh Jarrah area

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Palestinian sources revealed a new Israeli plan to build 200 settlement outposts in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem including the construction of new stories on a Palestinian house in Kubaniyet Um Haroun.

The sources said that settlers filed a request with the Israeli municipal council in Jerusalem for the building of new stories on the house inhabited by Mahmoud Al-Sa'au and his family as the threshold for the plan.

For his part, Sa'au said the settlers have been after his house for three years and he took legal action against their attempts to expel him from the house.

Sa'au added that three years ago, an Israeli settler called Ari King, known as the founder of the Israel land fund, visited him and demanded him to vacate the house at the pretext he had purchased it from a Jewish woman named Deborah Green and offered him a large sum of money, but he refused the offer prompting King to resort to Israeli courts in order to force him out.

He pointed out that King also showed him fabricated documents claiming that the Sa'au family rented the house from what was called the Jordanian custodian of absentee property before the alleged ownership of the house was transferred to the Israeli custodian in the aftermath of 1967 war.

For its part, Al-Quds media center said the Israeli municipal council in Jerusalem intends to open a new museum in the village of Maleha built on Palestinian lands.

The center added that the museum extends over 80,000 square meters of Palestinian lands and was funded by the Israeli government and donations collected from supporters of the international Zionism.

In another incident, Sheikh Ikrema Sabri, the head of the higher Islamic council, stated Saturday that the military drills which were conducted days ago by Israeli troops simulating a raid on the Aqsa Mosque portend real danger.

Sheikh Sabri added that such drills indicate that the Israeli occupation has intents to repeat the scenario of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil city and seize the Aqsa Mosque.

He warned that the Israeli occupation is waging psychological warfare against the Muslims and preparing them to accept the new reality in case the Aqsa Mosque was seized or demolished.

Abbas: a decision on direct talks within a week

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The de facto PA president, Mahmoud Abbas, said on Thursday that he will take a decision on whether or not to move to direct talks with the Israeli occupation within a week.

He added that he was promised by Washington that if he agrees to direct negotiations, Israel will renew its "freeze" on settlement expansion in the West Bank which is due to end next September.

He said that if there were positive developments by the 28th July the matter will be put to the Arab League committee that agreed to the present indirect talks, but if no positive developments occurred then the Palestinian side will inform the committee that they will continue with the indirect talks for the rest of the specified period which is four months.

Abbas's declaration coincided with Benjamin Netanyahu's utter rejection of the idea of extending the "freeze" on settlement expansion.
