NAZARETH, (PIC)-- Arab Knesset member Afu Agbaria strongly denounced Israeli soldiers for their brutal way in dealing with Palestinian detainees during interrogation, especially the children under age 14, describing their acts as immoral and inhumane.

In a press statement on Tuesday, Agbaria said that the Israeli statistics confirmed that 14 percent of Palestinian children were threatened with sexual abuse by soldiers.

He pointed out that the Palestinian ministry of prisoners' affairs said in a recent report that 65% of Palestinian detainees, most of them are children, are either tortured or receive brutal treatment from Israeli soldiers and interrogators.

The lawmaker added that 32% of these detainees signed confessions written in Hebrew without knowing what was in these papers, noting 100 complaints on Israeli violations against Palestinian children were filed by human rights organization with defense for children international (DCI) organization.

In another context, Ir Amim organization stated in a report that the Palestinian students in the eastern part of occupied Jerusalem are in need for 1,000 new classrooms.

Its report affirmed that thousands of Palestinian children study in overcrowded classrooms and dilapidated schools and this situation forced many parents to send them to private schools and kept thousands of children in their homes for their families' failure to afford private education.

The report added that because of the exorbitant enrolment fees of private education and the poor situation inside public schools, more than 40,000 children attend private schools, while 5,300 others do not go to any school, noting that 647 out of 1,398 classrooms in public schools are below the acceptable standards.
