Jumblatt: Geagea’s Acting Like a Smart Makes him Another “False Witness”

22/12/2010 Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt insists on taking the middle position between 14 and 8 March. But he is not in the middle after he confessed to file false witnesses and called to chase and prosecute them, and supported the file be referred to the Judicial Council, and wants from the cabinet to refer this file to the Judicial Council without resorting to a vote, Al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Wednesday.

“There is an agreement between me and President Michel Sleiman not to vote on the issue of false witnesses in the cabinet in order to avoid a crisis. It is weird that the Maronite president is rejected by his own sect. This sect wants those who praise the sect such as Bashir Gemayel, Amin Gemayel and Samir Geagea,” Jumblatt told the newspaper. “My stance on false witnesses is clear: I am with referring it to the Judicial Council,” he said.

Jumblatt slammed the Lebanese Forces leader saying he should stop acting smart, after the LF leader said that a cabinet vote on the false witnesses issue indirectly happened. Jumblatt said that Geagea has become like a “false witness.”

On the last cabinet session which was adjourned without reaching a solution on false witnesses, Jumblatt said: “We didn't vote (inside cabinet) to avoid a government crisis.”

About Iranian leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s latest stance on the international tribunal, the Druze leader said: “It does not target the Syrian-Saudi initiative because the great compromise being prepared by this initiative is to fill up the indictment effect in Lebanon.”

“Hezbollah is an extension to Iran in Lebanon. In contrast, March 14 forces have an extension through the American who want to settle accounts in Lebanon through these forces, especially the Sunni Muslim and the Christian,” Jumblatt added.
