Israeli General: ‘It’s an Islamic Spring, Stupid’

On July 4, 2011, while speaking at the Royal United Services Institute in Whitehall, a pro-Israel London-based think tank with Jewish property tycoon David Abrahams as Vice-president – Major-General Danny Rothschild, director of the Institute for Policy and Strategy in Herzliya (Israel) told his paranoid pro-Israel audience that the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ is in fact the ‘Islamic Spring’.

“The problem for the young people who led the protests was that once they have made the revolution, they don’t know what to do with it because they are not organised. I am afraid as a trend, what we are going to see is more and more involvement of the Ikhwan in Egypt and other places, to the degree that they will be the ones who will decide how the country will look. And that is not a Turkey-style Islamic government – it will be much more extreme”.

Wiat a miniute, Danny did throw some Jewish punches toward Islamic Republic too. “While the United States and Europe were more preoccupied with internal economic problems, Iran was increasing its influence in the Middle East,” warned Danny.

General Rothschild, commander of IDF in southern Lebanon in the 1980s and who helped to negotiate Israel’s peace treaty with Jordan was told by Israel embassy in London next day to forget about his scheduled talk with pro-Israel British MPs and run for his life because he could be arrested on charges of war crimes.

One day earlier, Knesset member and former Israeli Labor leader, Morocco-born Captain Amir Peretz also ran away from Britain over fear of being arrested.

Under the universal jurisdiction regulations, British judges could issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials visiting the UK without seeking approval from the state prosecutor. However, the British Zionist-occupied-government moved to appease Tel Aviv back in December 2010 with a reforms bill that would shift the jurisdiction to the director of public prosecution. But Israeli officials are likely to face more urgent escapes before the bill passes through the parliament.
