OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israel’s Jerusalem municipality has approved plans to construct 900 new settlement units in the Gilo settlement established in East Jerusalem.

Municipality councilman Elisha Peleg said the planning committee approved the plan to build 900 Jewish-only homes within a year or two on territories occupied and unilaterally annexed after the 1967 war, as quoted by Israeli Radio.

Peleg asserted that Jews have the right to build anywhere in the city.

In a statement on Tuesday, Gaza public works and housing minister Yousef al-Mansi condemned Israeli construction in the major settlement blocs in the West Bank.

He said Israel continued “aggressive policies against Palestinians” by building in the West Bank and Jerusalem and continuing Judaization policies in the holy city.

Meanwhile, bulldozers owned by the Israeli army began razing Tuesday morning a Palestinian home in Zakariya hamlet located in central Etzion settlement south of Bethlehem, locals reported.

Occupation authorities said the structure, which houses 11 Palestinians, was built without a permit.
