Security Forces Alert across Country after Terrorist Blast Rocks Dahr Al-Baydar East of Lebano, Lebanon Won’t Follow Iraq Pattern

Lebanon: Dahr Al-Baydar terrorist blast; June 20, 2014A terrorist suicide blast went off on Friday in Dahr Al-Baydar region eastern of Lebanon targeting an Internal Security Forces checkpoint, Al-Manar correspondent reported.

"The suicide bomber was riding a 4-wheel car and heading from the capital Beirut to the Bekaa region," he added.

Director General of. General Security Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim told local media outlets that an assassination attempt was targeting his convoy in the attack, and that his fake convoy managed to pass the checkpoint just before the blast went off.
Lebanese Red Cross said that the blast killed one of ISF crew and wounded 34 others.

Head of operations in the Lebanese Red Cross told Al-Manar that the blast left two martyrs at least, and scores others wounded, most of them civilians who were in passengers bus.

Four private cars left burnt.

Lebanese Ministry of Interior stated that six ISF elements were wounded in the attack.

IbrahimGeneral Security Chief, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, stated that the Lebanese security services are alert across the country and ready to encounter all the threats, stressing that Lebanon will not follow the Iraqi pattern.

Major General Ibrahim pointed out that he was heading to Bekaa when the explosion took place few meters away from his convoy.

He wondered about the Mossad leaked information regarding his assassination plot.

"Israeli Mossad is accused of Dahr Al-Baydar explosion because it leaked a document about plotting to target me," Ibrahim noted, "Israel is one of the terrorism facets."

"We suspected a car on our way, and it was detonated when the checkpoint stopped it."

"The explosion occurred the moment the car I was riding passed and few moments after my convoy crossed."

Maj. Gen. Ibrahim asserted that what happened in Hamra area proves our readiness, noting that 12 suspects were arrested in Napoleon Hotel.
