Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah fighters have threatened to strike back at Saudi Arabia if the Al Saud regime continues its aggression against the Yemeni people.
The Ansarullah fighters “will carry out a military attack on Saudi Arabia if the airstrikes on Yemen don’t come to an end,” said Mohammed Bahiti, a member of the Houthi movement.
Bahiti stated that the Saudi strikes against the Yemeni army depots cannot prevent the Ansarullah fighters from carrying out their prospective attack against the Saudi regime, adding that Houthis “do not require missiles” to redeem their promise.
He also said that Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, can never be restored to power as he has lost his legitimacy and is viewed in the eyes of the Yemeni people as a “traitor.”
“The Yemeni people will not honor Mansur Hadi and [will not] allow him to return to power,” the Houthi official went on to say.
Bahiti also expressed the readiness of the Ansarullah fighters to take part in UN-brokered peace talks from “the point they were at before [the] Saudi aggression.”
On Wednesday, Saudi Ambassador to the United States warned the Ansarullah movement of a “response” in case of an “aggressive move” by the fighters or their allies.
“If the Houthis or their allies make any aggressive moves, there will be a response,” said Adel al-Jubeir.
On Friday, Yemen’s al-Masirah TV reported that Saudi Arabia has carried out over 25 airstrikes against Yemen over the past few hours.
Reports added that over 20 of the airborne assaults targeted the southern city of Aden.
In a broadcast late on Tuesday, Saudi government spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed al-Assiri announced the termination of the first phase of the Saudi war on Yemen.
However, he added that the Saudi naval blockade on Yemen would stay in place and the Saudi forces would continue targeting the Houthi Ansarullah movement’s fighters in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a bid to restore power to Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.
According to reports, nearly 1,000 people have been killed during the aggression.
